Meet Rose, a Health Champion

With the year coming to an end, let us reflect on how we can make a difference for those who need our support?

There are so many ways: as a good friend and listener, an encouraging partner, a friendly colleague, or someone who is there for others in times of need.

At Babies and Mothers Alive we have created a dynamic partnership model with communities in Uganda that is dramatically improving the health of tens of thousands of mothers and babies, and saving lives!

Learn how your donations are making a difference here. By choosing one of our donation packages you help us save lives.

How wonderful it is to have someone who is there for us, listens without judging, and supports us.

Someone like Rose. Barbra owes her life to Rose.

Barbra (in red) was mistreated by her husband and suffered from severe depression.

She did not see any hope. When asked about her current situation, she burst out in tears of joy.

“Once in a while, I still cannot believe how far my daughter and I have come. Today, I work as a waitress, I have a healthy child and a strong community around me. I cannot thank Rose enough. She not only changed, but saved my life.

Rose is a BAMA Counselor, working with hundreds of adolescent mothers and their families. Rose listens. She is present and takes action. Whatever it takes, she is there for all mothers and babies we serve.

Rose supports young women, giving them voice as they work to improve their own lives and the health and well being of their children. She counsels survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and builds community support for these brave women.

Here’s what Rose says about her life’s work with BAMA: “I see it as my life’s mission to have an open ear for all, spread love, and encourage everyone. I want all mothers and babies to live in a safe, healthy environment full of hope and community support.”

Rose is familiar with the struggles of the women she serves.

She gave birth at a young age herself.

Thank You
